Suffolk student-athletes Taylor Holmes and Brady Chant know what to do when you put a bat or ball in their hands.

Chant was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Baseball Player of the Week for his timely and dramatic performance at the plate, while Holmes was recognized as the conference’s Softball Pitcher of the Week for overall effort.

During the Rams’ 8-0 softball win over Emerson College, Holmes, Class of 2018, pitched a complete game, with a career-best nine strikeouts, and only four walks allowed. The right-hander recorded the second complete game and shutout of her career.

Chant, Class of 2018, hit a game-winning, two-RBI triple in a 7-5 victory over Salem State University. The centerfielder now has 19 triples in his career, second best on Suffolk’s all-time list behind Chris Stanley, with 26 from 2010-13.
